What many don’t realize is that there really is a science behind colors. Some colors are more applicable to the specific industry and some colors are more appealing than others. There are a lot of statistics concerning the psychology of color and it has been shown that a great deal of consumers will purchase a product simply because of the color. This doesn’t necessarily mean clothing but it could be a color of the Logo on a label that has created the response to buy.
Research has also shown that 93% of people look at visuals and only 6% go for the texture and 1% focus on sound or smell. It is also been showing that people will make a decision within 90 seconds after viewing. This alone shows why it’s so important that your Logo be the right one with the right color.
Another good example of how important color is that research is showing that individuals will read colored ads far more than they will a black-and-white. In fact, the stats show that 42% of those that read ads will go for the color.
When looking at your colors you’re going to have your primary colors as well as your secondary. Most realize that red is often associated with fire or the sun and creates a stimulation of arousal in individuals. There has even been research to show that it can actually raise a blood pressure and can encourage feelings of power and aggression.
Yellow is another primary color which works a lot on the emotions and it creates feelings of cheerfulness and warmth, but it can have its downfalls as well as it can be overbearing.
Blue is often associated with water and automatically has a calming effect to it. Orange works much like red and yellow but again has to be used in small amounts. Green is often the color that is picked for industries that want to reflect nature. Purple is a secondary color but it is often one that is affiliated with wealth and wisdom.
